Thyroid fibrous band and levator glandulae thyroideae muscle: Two different structures associated with the pyramidal lobe of the thyroid gland

چکیده
We investigated two structures that are in close association with the pyramidal lobe of thyroid gland. Our investigation was performed using microdissection and histological examination 106 human postmortem specimens. The first structure identified as fibrous band present 28.3% cases. This always associated (which significantly longer thicker when this band) it had a constant hyo-pyramidal extension; located to midsagittal plane predominantly composed dense irregular connective tissue. second levator glandulae thyroideae muscle, which only 13.6% muscle double extension, laryngo-pyramidal, farther from plane, thinner than striated fibers. confirmed our hypothesis band, may be considered partial remnant thyroglossal duct thyroideae, infrahyoid or laryngeal different

Levator glandulae thyroideae, a fibromusculoglandular band with absence of pyramidal lobe and its innervation: a case report.
Amongst the endocrine glands, thyroid gland is well known for its developmental anomalies, which range from common to rare ones. The presence of levator glandulae thyroideae and its anatomical variations gain importance in the pathologies which are related to thyroid gland and their treatment modalities. Levator glandulae thyroideae is a fibromuscular band. If it is present, it is usually seen ...

The presence, position, extent, relationships to neighboring structures and size of the human pyramidal lobe were investigated in 58 human post-mortem specimens in order to determine the variability of this structure. The pyramidal lobe is found in 55.2% of cases as a single conical extension of the thyroid gland. It was present more often in male (53.1%) than in female (46.9%) specimens and lo...
متن کاملVariation of the Infrahyoid Muscle: Duplicated Omohyoid and Appearance of the Levator Glandulae Thyroideae Muscles
The embryologic origin of the omohyoid muscle is different from that of the other neck muscles. A number of variations such as the absence of muscle, variable sites of origin and insertion, and multiple bellies have been reported. However, variations in the inferior belly of the omohyoid muscle are rare. There have been no reports of the combined occurrence of the omohyoid muscle variation with...
متن کاملThe thyroid gland and its variations: a cadaveric study.
The size and shape of the thyroid gland is subject to much variation, as stated by Wood Jones. Literature is replete with a large number of variations of the gland. By utilizing various techniques like gross dissection, histology, developmental anatomy, and recently thyroid scans and scintigraphy, some common and certain rare anomalies of the thyroid with their possible developmental bases are ...
